ANTI VIRUS

The second most important program to have on your pc next to a firewall is a good anti virus program. Like all programs there are many to choose from. You've probable heard of Norton or MacAfee which also do a suite of program's which can cost a bit. They may be just right for you, so check them out. Some people have complained of poor support or that they use a lot of system resources.

One of the best anti virus programs is AVG and it's free for home use. Get it here: http://esd.element5.com/affiliate.html?affiliateid=xxxxx&publisherid=50169&target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.grisoft.com%2F%3Faffid%3Dxxxxx

AVG Free Edition is the well-known anti virus protection tool. AVG Free is available free of charge to home users for the life of the product. Rapid virus database updates are available for the lifetime of the product, thereby providing the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers. AVG Free is easy to use and will not slow your system down (low system resource requirements).

Highlights include automatic update functionality, the AVG Resident Shield, which provides real-time protection as files are opened and programs are run, free Virus Database Updates for the lifetime of the product, and AVG Virus Vault for safe handling of infected files.

Another excellent anti virus program is Avast, which I'm currently using. You can get it here: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

avast! 4 Home Edition is a full-featured anti virus package designed exclusively for home users and non-commercial use. Both of these conditions should be met! Our company offers the Home Edition free of charge, since, in our
opinion, it is possible to avoid global virus spreading by efficient prevention; however, many users are not able to or do not want to pay for anti virus software. This page will show you the most important features of this program. So read on.....

The nice thing about Avast is that it speaks to you, letting you know that it has been updated, nice! Also the ability to schedule a pre-boot scan, that's before you're pc boots up fully, is excellent. I highly recommend Avast but the choice is yours to make. There are others out there worth checking out.

REMEMBER TO USE ONLY ONE FIREWALL AND ONE ANTIVIRUS PROGRAME
